Frequently Asked Questions
What is a facial, and what are the benefits?
A facial is a professional skincare treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, and nourish your skin. Depending on your skin's needs, a facial can help improve dryness, dullness, clogged pores, uneven texture, and the appearance of fine lines. It's also a wonderful way to relax while giving your skin some extra attention.
I've never had a facial before. Which treatment should I book?
If it's your first time visiting LV Skin Essentials, we recommend starting with our New Client Facial. This allows us to get to know your skin, discuss your concerns, review your current skincare routine, and customize your treatment based on what your skin actually needs.
How often should I get a facial?
For many clients, a facial every 4–6 weeks is a great starting point. However, the ideal frequency depends on your skin type, concerns, treatment goals, and budget. We'll help you create a realistic skincare plan that works for you.
Will I see results after just one facial?
Many clients notice that their skin feels softer, smoother, and more hydrated after their first facial. However, concerns such as hyperpigmentation, acne, uneven texture, and visible signs of aging usually require consistent treatments and proper home care.
Healthy skin is a journey, not a one-time treatment.
Are facials suitable for sensitive skin?
Absolutely! Sensitive skin deserves special attention. At LV Skin Essentials, we take a gentle, personalized approach and select products and techniques based on your skin's condition and tolerance.
If you have rosacea, allergies, eczema, or a compromised skin barrier, please let us know before your appointment so we can determine the safest approach. Some treatments may need to be modified or postponed.
Can I get a facial if I have acne?
Yes! Facials can be a helpful addition to your skincare routine if you struggle with clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, or mild breakouts.
We focus on gentle exfoliation, appropriate extractions, hydration, and supporting your skin barrier. For severe or inflamed acne, we may recommend working with a dermatologist alongside your facial treatments.
Do facials help with fine lines and wrinkles?
Facials can help improve skin hydration, texture, and the appearance of fine lines, especially those made more noticeable by dryness.
While facials cannot permanently eliminate wrinkles, consistent professional skincare, daily sunscreen, and an appropriate home routine can support healthier-looking skin as you age.
Our philosophy is simple: Age Gracefully. Glow Confidently.
Can facials help with dark spots, melasma, and uneven skin tone?
Yes, certain facial treatments can help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and superficial discoloration over time.
However, melasma and stubborn pigmentation require a careful, consistent approach. We prioritize skin barrier health, sun protection, and personalized treatment planning rather than aggressive treatments that may worsen pigmentation.
Will my skin break out after a facial?
Some clients may experience temporary redness or a few blemishes after certain treatments, particularly when extractions or exfoliation are involved. However, significant breakouts are not an expected or necessary part of a successful facial.
We customize each treatment to minimize irritation and will guide you on what to expect afterward.
Are extractions included in my facial?
Extractions may be included when appropriate for your skin. We assess your pores and congestion before deciding whether extractions would be beneficial.
We never force extractions or compromise your skin just to remove every blackhead. Your skin's health always comes first.
What's the difference between a 60-minute and a 90-minute facial?
Our 60-Minute Custom Facial is perfect for clients who want professional skincare maintenance, hydration, and targeted attention to their skin concerns.
Our 90-Minute Custom Facial allows additional time for a more comprehensive and relaxing experience, with treatment techniques customized to your skin's needs.
Both treatments are personalized because no two faces are exactly alike.
Do facials hurt?
Most facials are relaxing and comfortable! You may experience mild tingling during exfoliation or slight pressure during extractions, but your treatment should never feel unnecessarily painful.
We encourage you to communicate with us throughout your appointment so we can adjust your treatment for your comfort.
Can I wear makeup after my facial?
For a gentle, hydrating facial, makeup may be worn afterward if your skin feels comfortable, although we recommend allowing your skin to breathe when possible.
If your facial includes stronger exfoliation, extractions, or other advanced techniques, you may need to avoid makeup for a longer period. We'll provide specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment.
What should I avoid after getting a facial?
After most facials, we recommend keeping your skincare routine simple and gentle.
Avoid harsh scrubs and strong exfoliating products.
Limit excessive heat, saunas, and strenuous exercise for the period recommended after your treatment.
Avoid picking or squeezing your skin.
Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily.
Your specific aftercare instructions will depend on the type of facial you receive.
Should I stop using retinol before my facial?
Certain active skincare ingredients, including retinoids and exfoliating acids, may need to be paused before some facial treatments.
Please tell us about the products and prescription medications you're using before your appointment. We'll provide personalized preparation instructions based on your skin and the treatment planned.
Can I get a facial while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes, many gentle facial treatments can be appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, certain ingredients and advanced treatments may not be recommended.
Please inform us before your appointment so we can select suitable products and techniques. We may recommend consulting your healthcare provider when needed.
